: "Boda of Doom: Cheetahs, Chaos, and the Last Drop"
Chapter 2: “Fuel for Fear”
They crouched in the trench, hearts pounding like war drums. The cheetahs prowled above, pacing, sniffing, tails twitching like ticking timers.
Marvin peeked up slowly. "They're still here..."
Julius whispered, "Maybe they'll lose interest."
As if on cue, one cheetah looked straight at him, growled, then hopped down into the trench—graceful, silent, deadly.
"NOPE!" Julius yelped and sprang out of the trench like a jack-in-the-box.
Marvin followed instantly. "We got seconds, bro!"
Now it wasn't just running. It was dodging, diving, rolling through thorny bushes and dry grass as razor-sharp claws slashed behind them.
A second cheetah joined the chase. Then a third.
Julius screamed, "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY?!"
Marvin panted, "WE RAN INTO THE WHOLE FAMILY REUNION!"
They zigzagged towards a lone termite mound—but cheetahs don't fall for zigzags.
One pounced—BOOM!—missed Marvin by inches, but the wind of its landing knocked him sideways. He rolled, scrambled to his feet, grabbed a dry branch, and waved it like a madman.
The cheetah blinked... and backed off.
"YOU SEE THAT?" Marvin shouted. "THEY RESPECT CRAZY!"
"THEY RESPECT LUNCH!" Julius cried. "MOVE!"
They bolted again. Up ahead, a miracle: an old ranger outpost. Half-broken, roof caved in—but solid enough to hide in.
They dove through a busted window, collapsing in a heap.
Julius gasped, "Bro... you think they'll come in?"
Marvin looked around, found a metal door, and slammed it shut.
Growls. Scratches. Paws against the wall.
Julius grinned, adrenaline still firing. "We just outran cheetahs."
"We didn't outrun them," Marvin wheezed. "We out-stupided them."
Just then—CRACK!—part of the roof gave way. A paw appeared through the hole.
“AAAAAAAHHH!!”
Marvin grabbed a shovel. Julius picked up a frying pan. They stood back-to-back like a budget action movie w
"We fight if we must," Marvin said.
"We pray and fight," Julius corrected.
But then—a loud rumble in the distance.
An old safari truck was coming. A patrol! Two rangers leaned out, shouting, "YOU GUYS OKAY?"
"DO WE LOOK OKAY?!" Marvin yelled, waving the shovel.
The truck screeched to a halt. One ranger fired a warning shot in the air.
The cheetahs scattered.
As they climbed into the truck, the ranger looked them over.
"What the hell were you two doing out here without fuel?"
Julius coughed. "Shortcut."
Marvin added, "Adventure."
The ranger sighed. "Idiots."
They both nodded.
“Yeah.”
